It can be said that Watchmen is a troubling canon. Because of this and the trend of 99% of the characters being really awful people in some way or another, it would probably be remiss of me not to include an opt-out post!
Basically if you'd rather not deal with any of that hot mess or there's something specific you don't want to deal with in case it might come up, there are no hard feelings, just let me know here.
SUPPLEMENTAL CANON
Within this post I'm compiling the supplemental canon I'll be using, or bearing in mind, from the RPG booklets and the sourcebook. Since this is (mostly) information that exists outside the graphic novel I wanted to make it readily available to see and refer to so anyone can know where I'm coming from.
As is probably obvious, I am also heavily drawing from the Before Watchmen: Minutemen title (where it does not contradict the graphic novel or any of these clippings) due to its heavy focus on developing Captain Metropolis's character/personality/storyline beyond what was only ever implied or very minimal in Watchmen. Obviously anything that might overlap another character should be discussed in the event of castmates. I am not including scans from BW:M in this post as those issues are very accessibly found, and it can be assumed I'm including everything (that doesn't contradict anything else).

What is it?: Arrested Restraint is a romance novel trilogy Nelson had ended up writing after attempting to write a memoir, but getting too frustrated and depressed chronicling his actual life he instead took major liberties with the story. It became a work of fiction (though inspired by his life) that he continued to work on whenever he's bored or inspired. Satisfied enough with the finished piece and inspired by other enterprising self-published works he'd seen around, it was self-published on a whim mainly for the sake of earning a little (a lot) extra cash, but using a pen name for very obvious reasons. He fancied it a crime series. It's not smut.
NOTE: The following information is relevant to
capeandcowl continuity, but neither the book series nor its legacy has carried over to maskormenace save for a single copy of the trilogy in glowsferatu's possession. ( Read more... )
